He's shown up in my poetry for as long as I've been writing it, probably because poetry is the most elemental of the literary arts and the impression he made on me is an elemental one. If he didn't show up in my poetry, I'd think I didn't love him. 

I've arranged this path in roughly chronological order. In some my father appears directly, in others only his shadow shows up. But you know that shadow by now, I think. I don't have to tell you which is which.
