WORKERS OF THE WORLD, UNITE!
My daddy was a union man. He belonged to the Composition Roofers Local 10 in Paterson, which was part of the United Slate, Tile and Composition Roofers, Damp and Waterproof Workers Association. (In 1978 the big union changed its name to the United Union of Roofers, Waterproofers, and Allied Workers.)
Part of me still says the Union killed him, in the same way that Richard Leakey killed him. If he hadn't gotten messed up with the union, he never would have gone nuts and tried to kill a man, and maybe he would have gotten his life straightened out.
So I've got some complicated feelings about unions. And just for fun, I'm going to complicate them more by digging into the past in this path.
