TO ESCAPE FROM THE AFORESAID

The GRAND JURORS of the State of New Jersey, for the County of Burlington, upon their respective oath and affirmation PRESENT THAT Thomas Wingate on the 26th day of July 1951, in the Township of Chesterfield, in the County aforesaid, and within the jurisdiction of this Court,

then and there being the lawful custody and control of a certain penal and correctional institution; to wit, the New Jersey State Reformatory of Bordentown, on a conviction of escape, and in execution of his lawful sentence thereon, he, the said Thomas Wingate, then and there with force and arms, and by force, feloniously did endeavor and attempt to escape from the aforesaid New Jersey State Reformatory of Bordentown.

Though Bordentown looks a bit posh these days, at least from the outside. Must have been different in the 1950s. More Dickensian.
