LANDON DECLINES TO BE INTERVIEWED
In Walk Like an Egyptian, I'd hoped to intersperse footage of me showing off my father's Egypt relics with my son, Landon, showing off his. But he didn't want to do it, and I didn't want to force him.
He loves Egypt, and he's got a couple of little plaster mummies that he keeps in boxes. They mostly stay there, dead asleep, but sometimes he takes them out to show his friends or check up on how they're doing. But all I have to show for his interest in Egypt is this video.
And there's this photo, too. We made the plaster mummy from a kit and he keeps it in a gold plastic sarcophagus. Usually the mummy is dead asleep, but sometimes Landon takes him out to play with him or show to friends.
I don't want to force the Egypt thing by sticking him in front of a camera and making him talk about it, or over-stress the connection between him and his grandfather, because I don't want to ruin Egypt for him. Maybe he'll become an Egyptologist, as he wants to at age six, and he'll remember that his grandpa used to like Egypt, too. Or maybe he'll become one and he'll have forgotten all about it, and I'll have to remind him.
