Appears to be the same suit to me, though it doesn't look all that crisp anymore. When are we? Has the Great Depression hit yet? How long his it been since the suit was dry cleaned? Did they have dry cleaning back then? 

Maybe the kids had started to arrive (there were two others before my father came along in 1932). Maybe he was living hand to mouth, having a rough go of it like everybody else in America who didn't have massive access to capital. 

The way he wears his cap makes me think he was going downhill. I discern a definite fuck you kind of tilt to it. Perhaps one of the things that has passed on to me genetically from him. I have a cap like that. I look good in caps like that. 

How often did he shower? How often did he drink? How often did he go without meals?
